They See Me Haulin'

00:00:00

What way to kick off the new year with new makeup goodies to play with!? I picked up a fair bit of stuff here and there over the space of about a month, including stuff I was able to get as gifts and/or with gift cards that I received. Of course to justify it all, what better way to do so than with a haul!

First up are some MAC goodies! I made sure I picked up a full-sized bottle of the Prep + Prime Fix+ as I have heard nothing but people raving about it. I have still got to test it out some more but its very hydrating! I also picked up one of the Spellbinder Magnetic shadows in the shade Cosmic Clash which is an emerald green. SO intense, SO amazing. I want all the shades! I did also do a separate order when there was a sale, and picked up a lip liner in the shade Spice, along with the HIGHLY coveted MAC Pigment in Blue Brown.

I ended up only wanting to get one thing from Mecca (that being the Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara) but then I got caught up with the Bobbi Brown stand. I caved and got a correcter which I already love! I tried a sample of this years ago and loved it then but never got around to getting it. Expensive product, but it really does work.

My mumma bear was AMAZING and got me a gift card for Mecca (she knows me too well honestly) which btw came in adorable packaging, props to you Mecca. I did some damage on Boxing Day when the Urban Decay Moondust liquid shadows were released and picked up three shades: Solstice, Spacetime & Zodiac. I also picked up a Mecca Tinted Lip De-Luscious in the shade Berry. This arrived 2 days after ordering online which is amazing, however I do need to get a refund or product swap for one of the liquid shadows, Solstice, as it came faulty, however they are currently out of stock so fingers crossed they are re-stocked soon!

The next item I have been lusting over for ages ever since Eb @ theblackandwhiteguide got her PR package for it; Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil in Shade 6. This is a HUGE jump for me as I was previously using a Chi Chi pomade, but I actually love it! Thinking I might have to pick up the Kabrow now too... oops.

I also got given a few things for Christmas that I absolutely adore. My partner bought me 3 perfumes; Jimmy Choo Blossom, Ariana Grande Sweet Candy and Versace Crystal Noir. They all have different scents to them which I love because I like to switch things up on a daily basis.

He went above and beyond and also got me the NYX Soft Matte Liquid Lipsticks Vault....... :O I know...I kept walking away from it saying no...no. but do you think he listened? I am in love, and of course testing them out and will review them.

For the tech department, my dad knew I wanted wireless headphones for the gym but had no idea which ones to get me so he gave me a voucher for JB Hi Fi, so I ended up picking up the BlueAnt Wireless Pump Zone which are blue, and amazing, and super motivating.

Lastly for a non-beauty non-tech present, I GOT TICKETS TO CIRQUE DE SOLEIL KOOZA haiuauIJWKqegukq2gjwqgydkuiqwegi. I have never been and I was SO beyond excited for this experience. It was absolutely AMAZING.

I know this is a long ass rambly post, but I just want to take a second to say thank you! thank you to my family for giving me such amazing gifts and experiences over Christmas. Thank you for the supporters I have that allow me to grow with this blog and my passions. Thank you for the people who have stood by me with my blog and account while I have had time off for personal reasons. HERE IS TO 2017....more makeup, more fitness, more love, more community. <3

Mecca Wishlist

10:51:00

mecca by bloompetal featuring Too Faced Cosmetics

Welcome back to my second instalment of my current wishlist. Ya'll know me by now, makeup is my life. It is what runs in my blood, and what gives me life. A tad overdramatic? maybe. If you have read my previous wishlist from last week, you would see the goodies I was eyeing off from Sephora. As I mentioned in that post, my best friend and I are planning to go down to the Gold Coast to visit the new Sephora store, which also happens to be near a Mecca store. I thought I would do up a few little sneaky wish lists of some things I am eyeing off to add to my collection.

Smashbox Primer Authority Try It Kit: I have been wanting to try the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer along with the Primer Water, and what better way to try it out by testing some travel sizes? I LOVE travel sizes because it lets you get a feel for a product, before you jump in and pay full price.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara: Another cult product I have heard amazing things about! I love my Maybelline Mascara's but I am always on the hunt for something that just makes my lashes pop!

Too Faced Cocoa Contour Kit: I have been eyeing this off for the better half of a year. I have heard amazing things about the Too Faced bronzers especially the Milk Chocolate one.

Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask: I can't for the life of me remember who was raving about this mask on Instagram last week, but when I looked into it I was sold! My skin has been so incredibly dry this winter, which means this hydrating mask could quite possibly be my life saviour!

Mecca Cosmetica The Primer Wardrobe: Another primer range I have been wanting to try out is the Mecca brand. Like the Smashbox kit, what better way to test out these primers, than with the travel-sized versions?

Too Faced Love Flush Blush Wardrobe: Can we just bathe in the glory that is this palette?! They are mini sizes all within a handy, sleek palette perfect for a vast variation of looks!

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation: I am on the hunt for a new HG foundation so I am super keen to test this one out!

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick: These lipsticks look DIVINE! I must own them all!

There you have it; another materialistic wish list for your perusal. In all seriousness I love makeup. It is a creative outlet for me, as well as making me feel confident and happy. I love making little wish lists as it inspires me for things to come, and it also promotes things out there that are new, or lusted after.

Let me know if these kind of things interest you, and I may make them a monthly or quarterly addition to the blog :)

Sephora Wishlist July 2016

Sephora Wishlist July 2016 by bloompetal featuring a lipstick

In a couple of weeks, myself and my best friend are going to go to the new Sephora on the Gold Coast, as well as Mecca (there will be a mecca wishlist coming as well!!). I thought I would compile a list of things that I am eager to try/add to my collection from Sephora. Some are off recommendations from fellow bloggers, and others are simply due to samples that I have tried being amazing!

Benefit Cheekathon Palette: I saw Ebony from The Black and White Guide share this on her snapchat and I was immediately smitten. I have been wanting to try the Benefit blushes and bronzer and honestly, this would be such a perfect way to try it. I believe its amazing value for money with the amount of product you get compared to buying the blushes as singles.

Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation: Recently I picked up a second bottle of Mac Studio Fix in my correct shade and I was super keen, however I was disappointed that due to it being so pale, the pigment wasn't all that great. I have heard amazing things about the coverage of this foundation so I am eager to test it out.

Becca Backlight Priming Filter: I received a sample of this along with my Champagne Pop Collection Face Palette, and I loved it. It made your skin look so luminous and healthy. My skin often looks dull, so I am super eager to give this a go.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick: My best friend recently went to Sephora and picked me up a mini set of the Kat Von D liquid lipstick which also comes with a mini studded lipstick as well. I got the colour Outlaw and I tested it out yesterday for the first time. It may very well beat the Kylie Jenner Lip Kits in regards to my opinion on the formula. I want to pick up some full-sized ones and so far I am thinking Bow N Arrow and A-Go-Go.

Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil: Another recommendation from the love Ebony @ The Black and White Guide. I am eager to try this pencil out and see if it knocks out my Chi Chi Brow Pomade. Fingers crossed the darkest shade matches my brows!

Zoeva Pink Spectrum Blush Palette: I have heard good things about the Zoeva products, and their blush palettes look absolutely stunning. I would have to see the shades in person, but I think either the pink or the nude collection would be right up my alley.

Make Up Forever Ultra HD Foundation: I have heard many YouTubers such as Rachelleaa rave about this foundation and I have never even considered maybe adding it to my collection before today, but due to wanting more pigmentation I am eager to branch out and give a few different formulas a go!

I hope you enjoyed this quick little blog post on my current Sephora Wishlist. I am super excited to go and check out the store and finally get a visual feel for some of the products in person that I have been eyeing off online!

Winter Lip Favourites

15:54:00

It's that time of year when the weather is cooler, the trees are bare, the sun sets earlier, and the wooly knits are pulled out of the back of the cupboard where they have been hibernating for a good 9 months. With winter comes the adventure with makeup for me. Being able to rock a smokey eye in the day time gives me life! Dark lips and warm nudes, are my go to staples for the lips and I thought I would share a few of my favourite lipsticks here today.

Top - LEFT - RIGHT- bottom: Maybelline Color Drama in BERRY MUCH, Australis Velourlips in DOO-BAI, Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte in TOUCH OF SPICE, Australis Colour Inject in GRUNGE, Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte in DIVINE WINE, Chi Chi Creamy Matte in FLIRT, & Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte in ICED MOCHA.

TOP TO BOTTOM:

Maybelline Color Drama in BERRY MUCH:

This creamy lip crayon is perfect for winter. It is creamy and nourishing, whilst still being incredibly pigmented. The pencil form provides seamless application in just a few swipes, making it awesome for on the go, and for touch ups.

Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte in TOUCH OF SPICE:

This is my nude staple for winter. It is a mid-tone brown with a hue of pink to make it seem natural, yet at the same time it is dark enough to pack a punch. The formula of these lipsticks are comfortable on the lips, and very nourishing.

Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte in DIVINE WINE:

The only way I can explain this lipstick, is that its Touch of Spice's big sister. It is a dark brown, but instead of pink, it leans more on the red side, coming off as a deep maroon on the lips. Again, this formula is incredibly nourishing on the lips.

Australis Colour Inject in GRUNGE:

This lipstick has to be a fair few years old, but I can't bring myself to part with it just yet. It is a dark purple/plum shade, that I love to rock with a simple winged eyeliner. This formula is very creamy and shiny, however with how old it is, I believe the packaging is new, so the formula may vary nowadays.

Australis Velourlips in DOO-BAI:

This formula is super drying, so i don't tend to reach for it often, however it's always nice to have a staple matte (I'm talking matte enough that it takes hours to wear off) so that you aren't having to retouch your lipstick every two hours.

Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte in ICED MOCHA:

This shade is a true brown. In picture you can't honestly tell (thanks to the torrential rain right now, my photo taking options consist of no light whatsoever), however IRL it is such a nice nude brown. Considering the shade, it is actually extremely wearable, and its one of my GO-TO picks for winter. The formula is hydrating (get it...HYDRA...) and comfortable on the lips.

Chi Chi Creamy Matte in FLIRT:

I loose this formula, especially in winter when my lips tend to dry out a bit. It is a matte, however it is super creamy and doesn't completely dry down. This shade is your run of the mill "Kylie Jenner' nude lip.

Maybelline TOUCH OF SPICE, Maybelline DIVINE WINE & Australis GRUNGE

As you can tell, I am a sucker for the dark berry shades and the brown hues! I also love slightly more matte lip options, as I find they stay on for longer, meaning I don't have to constantly worry about whether I look like a two year old has applied my makeup.

Stay tuned for a future post of my favourite Winter Nail options, and my Winter Face Masks!

Australis AC Gems Limited Edition

13:00:00

Recently I picked up a few goodies from the AC Gems Limited Edition range from Australis. They came out with 4 new shades of the Velourlips Matte Lip Creams and 4 new shades from the Metallix Eyeshadows, all being limited edition! I managed to pick up two of the lipsticks and two of the eyeshadows at priceline when they were initially released.

The four Velourlips that were released were Quartz and All, To-Paz or Not To-Paz, Em-Ruled City, and Full Moon-Stone (Grey-beige, Blue, Emerald Green, and Stark White in layman's terms). For all my Vegan viewers out there, you will be pleased to know that these lipsticks are not tested on animals, and are also vegan friendly. RRP: $10.95, available from Kmart, Priceline and the Australis online store.

The colours I picked up were (from top to bottom) To-Paz or not To-Paz, which is a dark blackish-blue, and also Quartz And All which is a greyish beige.

The one thing I will say is, I found the blue EXTREMELY hard to swatch on my lips, as its such a BOLD colour that any slight mistake is noticeable. If I had a lipliner in a similar colour, it would have been perfect, but come on...how hard is it to find a bold blue lip pencil? VERY! If you are light handed, you could almost use a black eyeliner pencil to lightly outline your lips.

Excuse the dodgy lip swatch (my lips are not the easiest to outline, especially with a doe foot applicator and not a lip pencil) but as you can see this colour is very grey and very grungy. Comparable to Gerard Cosmetics lipstick in London Fog, although not as blue-toned.

Next up are the Metallix Eyeshadows. I have nearly the whole collection of the original range of the Metallix cream eyeshadows, and I love them beyond compare to anything I've ever seen. They are cream shadows which are highly pigmented and highly metallic. The four new shades released include On The Tennis Quartz (purple), Girl On Sa-Phire (blue), Jaded (green), and Born To Diamond (silvery white). These products are also not tested on animals. RRP: $9.49 available from Kmart, Priceline and the Australis online store.

I picked up (from top to bottom) Jaded & Girl On Sa-Phire.

The lipsticks in this collection appear to have the same formula as the original line of Velourlips, being thin, buildable, and dries to a firm matte. The smell of them are still DEVINE and smell of lollies and grapes. I love the idea also of the white lipstick in this range...as it was created to not only be able to be worn on its own (if you're daring enough), but also to mix in with shades to make your own custom colour.

The eyeshadow formula is hands down my favourite creamy metallic concoction known to man, and I can't wait to create some glam and bold smokey eyes with these shades. I would love to see if they keep a few of the colours in their permanent collection, as I can definitely see me going through that green pretty quickly this winter!

Overall I am in love with this collection, and how BADASS and bold everything is! The products are amazing, especially for the affordable price, and they are also cruelty free, making it a wonderful product for yourself, and for the earth.
