JOURNEY TO HEALTH: The Start

As cliche as the title may be, I have decided to do a new blog series called the 'Journey to Health'. Yesterday we got some professional photos done for our family for Christmas, and I was sent a sneak peek at a couple of the images. I cried. And when I say cried, I mean I was curled up in a ball in bed sobbing into my doona. The person in the images does not reflect the person I feel I am. It was the kick in the butt I needed to push me to the edge, so that I can start this new journey, and bloody stick to it!

The person I saw in the images is not me. She does not reflect who I feel I am inside. I know I am overweight, but I don't see myself as this obese fat person inside. The photo's just simply don't match up to how I feel. It made me realise that whenever the time comes for me to get married, I don't want to look back at my wedding photos and feel ashamed, and sad. I read a story yesterday about a beautiful girl in America, who saw her engagement photos, and decided then and there that she would NOT be that weight by the time she gets married. She lost around 50 kilos I believe if I can remember it correctly! Now I am not engaged (yet...come on man ;) ) but I do know that I do not want to be this weight by the time that day comes. Some people have holidays, or competitions that are their motivation to lose weight. Mine is my not-yet-planned wedding.

So what am I going to do this time around that will make it different to all the other times I tried and gave up? I am going to incorporate the following things into my first phase of this long journey ahead, so keep reading if you are looking for some guidance/inspiration:

Cut out unnecessary food/drinks. I have already started this process by eliminating energy drinks out of my diet. Next step is to reduce the amount of soft drink I consume, and increase my water intake (probably the hardest step to overcome for me personally).
Start working out a minimum of three times a week. Don't go too hard too fast. This burns you out, and is the number 1 reason I have never been able to stick to my fitness journey. I plan to take walks after work (perfect for this time of year, as the sun is going down later, and is much cooler than in the heat of day), hitting the gym, and doing some home workouts with my man.
Make it fun! My partner has decided he really wants to take the extra step to get healthy as well, so we are going to buy some free weights and create our own at-home gym. This means we will be working out together, which not only gives us more time together as a couple, but motivates us even further than if we were doing this alone.

Life Update: Where Have I Been?

Well hello again. So it has been a good month since I last posted on here, and part of that is pure laziness, but I have been dealing with some stuff lately. I thought I would just make a post updating you on where I have been, what's up in my life, and whats to come for 'Becoming Tashh'.

I haven't been well for the past month, shock horror. I am always sick. I had to have a week off work due to a bad flu that just knocked the living hell out of me for a good week. I was feeling pretty crappy the week before this, but I just woke up on a Sunday feeling like a truck had run over my body. I was tested for Influenza A as some of my family have just had that. Luckily, mine was just a generic strand of the good old flu. Going back to work was hard in the sense that I had so much to catch up on, as well as preparing for all the people going on holidays from now on. Therefore, I have been flat out and not feeling up to doing any blog work when I get home in the afternoons.

Second to that I was feeling very unmotivated and uninspired. I was struggling to figure out where I wanted my blog to go, in what direction and how I was going to do that. I found myself getting too caught up with how many followers I was gaining and losing, and I was losing the passion and fun out of it. The break has been good for me, as I have gained perspective and also that drive has come back that just gives me so much passion.

In saying that, I want to move my blog to be all about lifestyle, not just beauty. I have HUGE #boss crushes on fellow bloggers like The Black and White Guide, The Minted Blog, and Rachael Kable, who I look to for inspiration and ultimate goals. I want this blog to be about beauty, cause that is what I am passionate about...have been ever since I was little. I also want to document my fitness journey, and talk about health related topics, as well as food. I want to talk about books, and movies, and music. I don't want to be one-dimensional. I hope this doesn't turn you away, and if it does I am truly sad to see you go. But this is what I need to do, in order to let every aspect of me have a creative outlet. Afterall, us humans are multifaceted.

I do have a huge 4 weeks coming up at work, BUT I will attempt to get atleast 1 or 2 posts out per week to get back into the swing of things.

Welcome back to my second instalment of my current wishlist. Ya'll know me by now, makeup is my life. It is what runs in my blood, and what gives me life. A tad overdramatic? maybe. If you have read my previous wishlist from last week, you would see the goodies I was eyeing off from Sephora. As I mentioned in that post, my best friend and I are planning to go down to the Gold Coast to visit the new Sephora store, which also happens to be near a Mecca store. I thought I would do up a few little sneaky wish lists of some things I am eyeing off to add to my collection.

Smashbox Primer Authority Try It Kit: I have been wanting to try the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer along with the Primer Water, and what better way to try it out by testing some travel sizes? I LOVE travel sizes because it lets you get a feel for a product, before you jump in and pay full price.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara: Another cult product I have heard amazing things about! I love my Maybelline Mascara's but I am always on the hunt for something that just makes my lashes pop!

Too Faced Cocoa Contour Kit: I have been eyeing this off for the better half of a year. I have heard amazing things about the Too Faced bronzers especially the Milk Chocolate one.

Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask: I can't for the life of me remember who was raving about this mask on Instagram last week, but when I looked into it I was sold! My skin has been so incredibly dry this winter, which means this hydrating mask could quite possibly be my life saviour!

Mecca Cosmetica The Primer Wardrobe: Another primer range I have been wanting to try out is the Mecca brand. Like the Smashbox kit, what better way to test out these primers, than with the travel-sized versions?

Too Faced Love Flush Blush Wardrobe: Can we just bathe in the glory that is this palette?! They are mini sizes all within a handy, sleek palette perfect for a vast variation of looks!

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation: I am on the hunt for a new HG foundation so I am super keen to test this one out!

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick: These lipsticks look DIVINE! I must own them all!

There you have it; another materialistic wish list for your perusal. In all seriousness I love makeup. It is a creative outlet for me, as well as making me feel confident and happy. I love making little wish lists as it inspires me for things to come, and it also promotes things out there that are new, or lusted after.
